1. Boric Acid to Kill Fleas:
Boric acid has similar functionalities like salt and helps in eliminating fleas from your house. Boric acid is known for its dehydrating properties that severely dehydrates fleas and kills them. Simply sprinkle boric acid in places where you suspect flea infestation. It will help in not only killing the fleas but their larvae and eggs as well.
You will need:
Boric Acid (a lot in quantity)
A shaker (not necessary)
Synthetic or rubber gloves (not necessary)
Fill your shaker with industry grade boric acid
Before sprinkling it all over your house, vacuum your upholstery, carpets, wardrobes, etc.
Remove objects like your pet’s bedding, his chew toys, your shoes, bags, etc.
Now sprinkle boric acid in every nook and corner of your house. Make sure to sprinkle thin layers. It is not necessary to use a sprinkler; you can simply use your hands for sprinkling boric acid powder given that you are wearing rubber gloves.
For upholstery and hard corners, you can use a hand brush and work down the corners and gaps. You have to keep in mind that industry grade boric acid can fade the color of the fabrics.
Leave the sprinkled boric acid for 1-2 days before vacuuming.

The reason why it is effective against flea infestation is that it contains silica in high numbers. Diatomaceous Earth is a very fine powder, like flour and is found in saltwater as well as freshwater. Diatomaceous Earth can be dried and sprinkled all over your house. The presence of silica shards cut through the exoskeleton of the fleas and dry them out. Diatomaceous Earth works similarly on adult fleas as well as larvae. The best thing about Diatomaceous Earth is that it is non-toxic to animals and humans.
You will need:
Diatomaceous Earth of food grade category
Before sprinkling Diatomaceous Earth everywhere, brush off the upholstery and carpets and vacuum thoroughly. Wash everything that can’t be vacuumed. Use hot water to wash everything.
Now, sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth in thin layers all around your house where you doubt the flea infestation. Don’t hesitate to sprinkle it on your carpets and pet beddings.
Leave your house intact with Diatomaceous Earth sprinkled all over for 1-2 days. Once getting in contact, the fleas will start to dry out. It will take nearly 5-7 hours for the fleas to completely dry out.

3. Pennyroyal herb to Deter Fleas:
When you go from market to market, you will get to know there are several verities of pennyroyal herb. However, look for American pennyroyal (Hedeoma pulegone) or European pennyroyal (menthe pulegium) as these two verities are traditionally used as flea killers. But pennyroyal herb of the mint family can cause harm to humans and animals. This herb is profoundly used by the Native Americans as a medication for abortion. Animals may also face fertility problems if exposed to this herb. In case, if your pet licks or chews the leaves of pennyroyal herb, it can even kill them. So, use this remedy only if you want to repel fleas from your home.
Grow pennyroyal plant herb in your backyard or in your garden especially where your pets like dog love to hang around. But make sure that the plant is completely out of your dog’s reach. You can use a tree-guard or any other form of protection to safeguard the plant.
Once the plant blooms, pluck a handful of leaves and crush them or ground them till they release aroma and oil.
